“How Can The Vatican Negotiate While China Keeps Demolishing Churches?”
On August 29 security officers tried for no particular reason to demolish a Catholic church in Wangcun, Changzhi Diocese. At one moment about twenty priests and 2.000 parishioners gathered in order to block the caterpillars. Several priests and lay-people were assaulted, one beaten and injured on the head by a security officer. The workers were unable to carry on with the demolition order.
This represents only one of many Church demolitions in China in recent times. Father Alexander Lucie-Smith asks in the Catholic Herald, “How can the Vatican negotiate while China keeps demolishing churches?”
