Novice Receives the Habit of the Benedictine Monks of the Immaculate (bmi) in Villatalla, Italy.

Brother Martial received the habit and became Bro. Joseph. The Father Prior first asked to let the postulant in. This latter expressed aloud his decision to devote all his life to God and to join the community. Following the example of Our Lord Jesus Christ who on Holy Thursday wanted to leave a last lesson of brotherly love to his disciples, the Father Prior knelt before the postulant and washed his feet while the choir sang the Ubi Caritas: "Where there is charity and love, God is there." Next, he stripped him of his lay clothes and put upon him the monastic habit, respectively symbols of the old and of the new man. The ceremony ended with the chant of Compline during which the novice intoned the short lesson for the first time: "Brethren: Be sober, be watchful! For your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goes about seeking who he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith."

——— English subtitles ———
— Reverend Father, someone at the door would like to receive the holy habit.
— Let him come in. (The postulant comes in.) What do you want?
— The mercy of God and to be received into the community.
— May the Lord grant you to be among His elect.

The choir sings:
"'A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another, as I have loved you', saith the Lord. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. 'A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another, as I have loved you', saith the Lord.
"Where there is charity and love, God is there. Let us fear and love the living God, and may we love each other with a sincere heart."

The Father Prior removes the brother's secular clothing and says: "May the Lord strip thee of the old man with all his acts."
He clothes him the monastic habit and says: "May the Lord clothe thee in the new man, who is created by God in justice and in the holiness of truth."

Brother Martial, from now on you will be called Brother Joseph.

Receive,O Lord, we beseech Thee, Thy servant Joseph, who flees from the tempests of the world and the snares of the devil to come to you. And being received by Thee, he may, once freed from the present world, have fruition of the next, being happily rewarded by Thee. Through Christ our Lord.

Chant of Compline
— Pray, Father, a blessing.
— May almighty God grant us a quiet night and a perfect end. Amen.
— Brethren: Be sober, be watchful! For your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goes about seeking who he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith. But Thou, O Lord, have mercy on us. Thanks be to God. Our help is in the name of the Lord.

Hymn:
"Before the ending of the day, Creator of the world, we pray that, with Thy wonted favor Thou wouldest be our guard and keeper."

——— Latin subtitles ———

— Reverende Pater, adest ad januam quidam sæcularis postulans habitum sanctæ conversationis.
— Introducatur.
Quid petis ?
— Misericordiam Dei et vestram confraternitatem.
— Dominus noster det tibi societatem electorum suorum.

Mandatum novum do vobis : « ut diligatis invicem sicut dilexi vos », dicit Dominus. Beati immaculati in via, qui ambulant in lege Domini. Mandatum novum do vobis : « ut diligatis invicem sicut dilexi vos », dicit Dominus.

— Jube, domne, benedicere.
— Noctem quietam et finem perfectum concedat nobis Dominus omnipotens. Amen.
— Fratres : Sobrii estote, et vigilate, quia adversarius vester diabolus tamquam leo rugiens circuit quærens quem devoret. Cui resistite fortes in fide. Tu autem Domine, miserere nobis. Deo gratias. Adjutorium nostrum in nomine Domini.

Te lucis ante terminum Rerum Creator poscimus ut solita clementia sis præsul ad custodiam.
