Miller says, “pushing little particles of dirt around in an egg yolk emulsion to create beauty blends everything that I’m about. I love nature, I love life, and I love God. The ancient Orthodox style is one of the highest resonances of beauty for me. I never get tired of this magnificent medium and mysterious content that is expressed.” Full Collection | Misitio

Painting Hands in Sacred art

Hand of God
The motif of the hand, with no body attached, found in the corners of feast day icons, is both curious and delightful. The addition of a small hand to the icon is a simple and straightforward way to express God's presence in all things. God is always present and constantly accessible. The single painted hand in iconography at the top symbolizes God. This hand includes the hand of Christ already depicted in the event. It emerges from a small cloud, or an abstracted quarter circle trimmed in red, white, or black. Usually, part of the forearm is shown with an extended hand, an open palm, or sometimes with the fingers spread, palm down. Painting Hands in Iconography - San Miguel Icons

Mother of Seven sorrows

A sword did pierced my soul when I decided to break step with Orthodox Iconography and use the practice to examine humanities relationship with Mother Earth. Change is upon us; every nation is affected, and every society feels the consequences of unbridled greed and waste. I believe we live on Holy Ground, even with climate change and the anxiety it may provoke. We are still miles from the idea that we could go extinct like the dinosaurs. Humanity thinks it is the last revelation of God, and eternal. Yet humans are just one more evolution happening over millennia.

How small are we and who small is the mind that sees it?

WAR,... when is it going to be enough? Weapons don't work. We might try putting 12 leaders in a room and pay them each $10 million, and say they cannot leave until a peaceful solution is agreed on. It would be better than devastation. Communication is everything and one of our most prized assets as humans.

Trump pulled the US out of the arms treaty agreement, which prohibited selling guns to countries in turmoil. The act of supplying weapons to nations in turmoil propagates war crimes. The impact of guns flowing into Mexico over the past 5 years is a crime against humanity. Selling guns to hot headed frustrated people is a war crime. The easier it is for any nation’s citizens to buy guns, the better it is for the gun industry in America. The National Rifle Association is a cancer corrupting and aggravating the lifestyle of people around the world. Their propaganda began and continues to prosper in the USA and is a crime against God and humanity.

Angels Do Not need weapons

US spent $17.9 BILLION on military aid to Israel since the war in Gaza, a land mass of 25 miles. Think about this,... you would think there is nothing left, no buildings or people, So who is making the money on the war? With that much money, we could incarcerate the leaders and force them to talk peace instead of mass killing and destruction.

Visual language is ancient, designed with various meanings and symbols for a specific audience that seeks another world. Iconographic images are not political; they are experiential. Some are archetypal, while others are historical, but all spark curiosity as they emerge from the hearts of people who pray and converse with the spirit. Living without active questioning would render sacred art flat and predictable.
