Selective Love of Mankind: Bishop Refuses PiusX

Normally, I'd agree with that. There are some rays of hope, however. Really. Things aren't that bad yet.

First. the FSSP and SSPX were formed long before Benedict became Pope and somehow managed to preserve the Mass inspite of decades of modernist Novus Ordo persecution.

Second, some bishops are fiercely dedicated to preserving the Latin Mass. They're the ones who travel hundreds of miles, often very discretely into "hostile territory" to ordain priests. There's a network. Those bishops understand the political realities within the Church and the Vatican today.

Third, Traditional Latin Mass appeals to educated and wealthy (and I mean, rich) parishioners. Traditionalists aren't financially dependent on the Catholic Church for the health of their parish. Several parishes I know of personally could easily support both a Church buildiing and a pastor with zero help from the diocese.

Fourth, traditionalists are the future, both spiritual and temporal. They're the ones whose children are discerning vocations thanks to a Christ-focused family life. They're also the ones who can still afford to have big families and raising the next generation of Catholics who can afford to tithe.

It's very instructive to compare the published "weekly financial statement" of a Latino Novus Ordo parish and a comparatively tiny Traditional Latin Mass parish. For the average money-minded Bishop, who does exactly that, the latter is a better money-maker.

Now someone could make a good argument that certain enemies within the Church don't care about money. They'll sacrifice their own profitability because they want- the Mass (and all Mass) to die out. They want the God's Church to turn into Germany's Church, England's Church... empty buildings secularized or sold outright.

But that simply isn't going to happen at this point no matter what edicts they issue. America isn't Europe, thanks be to God. We're not going to end up like Germany, even if this Pope or the next one literally starts exporting radical German bishops.

As I've repeated endlessly to certain... characters... here, recognizing the Papal Office and agreeing with its policies are two different things. All clergy must do the former. Many bishops and priests (even some in Germany) are bitterly opposed to the latter, especially in light of the increasing excesses. Just as we traditionalists are the future of the laity, they are the future of the clergy.

Don't worry... the Mass, the Latin Mass, will survive. :)
