Papua New Guinea Declares Christian Identity - Against 'Catholic' Bishops

Papua New Guinea's parliament has passed a 12 March constitutional amendment formally recognizing the nation as a Christian country.

The decision was made by an overwhelming majority of 80 votes in favor and only four against. The amendment adds a declaration to the preamble of the constitution:

"We acknowledge and declare God, the Father, Jesus Christ, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, to be our Creator and Sustainer of the whole universe, and the source of our powers and authorities, delegated to the people and all persons within the geographical jurisdiction of Papua New Guinea."

The Bible will be recognized as a national symbol. Prime Minister James Marape, a vocal supporter of the amendment, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome. "I'm happy," he said.

The Trinitarian reference was lobbied for by evangelical groups. The Catholic bishops have opposed the amendment for months.

It would be good if those PNG Bishops lend their hearts in consecrating PNG to our God the Almighty! 🥴 🥺

Many bishops in these areas are just plain PAGANS.

Are those naysaying bishops even Christian?

A very great and glorious Declaration by Papua New Guinea…in spite of the naysaying Bishops. May the whole nation be wonderfully blessed because of it. And may it please the Lord for other nations to follow suit.
