“I Think You Are Wrong”: Vatican Defends Rupnik in the Name of Francis

The Vatican's Dicastery for [Manipulated] Communication will allegedly not publish "new images" of works by Father Marko Rupnik, but existing images will remain on the Vatican website "for now", with no plans to remove them.

The head of the dicastery, Paolo Ruffini, said this at a press conference on 21 June (AmericaMagazine.org). It is clear that this is based on direct orders from Francis.

As recently as 7 June (!) the Dicastery included a picture of Rupnik to illustrate an article about the Sacred Heart.

Ruffini fabricated that there was also a "Christian" reason for not removing the art. He alluded to Jesus' teaching against judging others. "Who am I to judge?" he asked rhetorically. "We need to pray for those who judge" (as if they were the problem in this case).

"I don't think we need to throw stones and think that's the way to heal someone" - while Francis judges Catholics and throws stones at them all the time.

Ruffini believes that "removing, erasing, destroying art is never a good choice".

He added that the Jesuit Curia had not removed Rupnik’s artwork from its chapel.

Finally, Rupnik asked journalist Paulina Guzik if she thought removing Rupnik's artwork from the website would mean being "close to the victims", and she said yes. Ruffini: "Really? You think so? Well, I think you are wrong."

Rupnik was found guilty of fornicating with sisters and absolving one of his accomplices in confession, a crime punishable by excommunication. But the excommunication was lifted by Francis within weeks.

The Dicastery for the Destruction of the Faith reopened the case to placate the oligarchs' media without any intention of pursuing it.

Father Rupnik has been accused of sexual and spiritual abuse by dozens of sisters of the Loyola community. One of them said he had abused 41 members. His sexual partners are said to have included a man.

He remains a priest in good standing in a diocese in his native Slovenia, where he has been reinstated by the local bishop.
