Israel's embassy to the Holy See has described the October 7 statement calling for peace “extremely disappointing", "frustrating”, “affected by immoral ambiguity'” (sic).
The very carefully worded statement did not follow the embassy's version of "victim" and "aggressor".
There is even a National-Socialist comparison mentioning the heroic Pius XII and Jewish-Catholic relations, “Apparently, few decades later there are those who still didn’t learn the lesson of the recent dark past.”
Italian-born Jerusalem Cardinal Pizzaballa is a balanced man.
