The PROOF: Abuses in Church Are SHAMELESSLY Exaggerated
The ridiculous claim that “330’000 children” were allegedly abused by “2’900-3’200” church workers between 1950-2020 as alleged in the October 5 report commissioned by the French Bishops is bogus, Peter Anderson explains on IlSismografo (October 6).
A simple division shows that this would mean that the average abuser abused more than 100 children. “This is difficult to believe,” Anderson comments.
He compars this with a similar (also higly exaggerating) 2018 report commissioned by the German Bishops and the (likewise grossly exaggerated) report of the Pennsylvania grand jury which put the average number of victims per abuser between 2 and 4.
The French report was based on a survey in which questionnaires were sent to 243,601 individuals but only 28,010 usable questionnaires were returned. This was then applied to the general population in France.
Anderson believes that fear was the reason why the cowardly bishops accepted such a report in order not to give the impression that they are “in denial” about sexual abuses.
Reports of this kind are the sad proof that the intrinsicly big but marginal phenomenon of abuses in the Church is shamelessly inflated to damage the Church.
