Permanent Synod: Study Groups "Need Additional Time"

Many think that the ex-synod has concluded in October, but simply issuing a document is not enough, Cardinal Mario Grech told VaticanNews.va (March 15).

The synod is being transformed "into a process" [permanent revolution]

Regarding the study groups, Cardinal Grech said it is "still difficult to say when the groups will conclude their work."

"As indicated a year ago when they were established, the groups are asked to present their conclusions to the Holy Father ‘possibly by June 2025,'" he said.

But: "Some of the groups should be able to meet this deadline. Others, on the contrary, may need additional time, but will still offer an interim report on their work by the end of June."

Cardinal Grech did not release a document or decree signed by Francis initiating this new phase but only said that, on March 11, the Pope approved it along with the 2028 “Ecclesial Assembly”.
