The Norwegian author and dramatist Jon Fosse, 64, has been awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Winning this prize is almost a guarantee that an author will soon be forgotten.
Fosse counts the Bible among the books that have influenced his work, and he was among the literary consultants for Bibel 2011, a Norwegian translation of the Bible.
He is a regime artist who since 2011 has been awarded an honorary residence owned by the Norwegian state and located on the premises of the Royal Palace in Oslo. True literati stay away from those in power and are not appreciated by them.
Fosse is divorced and spends part of his time with a second wife, a Slovakian, in Hainburg an der Donau, Austria.
He was originally a member of the Church of Norway, although he was foolish enough to call himself an atheist until 2012. He then became Catholic and went into rehab for alcoholism.
