Archbishop Ends up as Parish Priest

Eight months after taking office, Francis forced Archbishop Gabriel Mestre of La Plata, Argentina, to resign in May 2024.

In keeping with his "synodal church" full of "dialogue", dictator Bergoglio never gave a reason for this resignation.

On 23 August, the Archdiocese of La Plata announced that Monsignor Mestre, 55, would become parish priest of Nuestra Señora de Fátima de Mar de Ajó in the Archdiocese of La Plata at the end of September.

Mar de Ajó is a coastal town in the Partido de La Costa district of the Province of Buenos Aires and a popular destination for beach tourism in Argentina.

The parish includes Nueva Atlantis, Pavón, Costa Esmeralda and the parish of Villa Clelia.

Monsignor Mestre was Archbishop of La Plata from 16 September 2023 to 27 May 2024, succeeding Tucho Fernández.
