I am glad that Assange has been freed, and after all he has been through, I don't blame him for pleading guilty to get his life back; but we need to realize that his guilty plea is chilling for the cause of freedom of speech and the press.

I agree that constitutional rights are under attack, but, is a non-US citizen, operating from outside of the United States entitled to any protection under the Constitution? Also, the first amendment doesn’t protect as legitimate journalism the solicitation of classified documents (it does protect publishing ones received without solicitation).
