Opus Dei Parish Imposes Grabbing Holy Communion

Holy Spirit Parish in Madrid, Spain, which is run by the Opus Dei, imposes on its parishioners the obligation to grab communion.

This contradicts even the Vatican’s provisions which recognise the right of the faithful to receive communion. The Opus Dei taught for decades that grabbing Communion is a lack of respect for the Eucharist.

The parish’s website quotes “Normes of the Bishops’ Conference” among them, “The Eucharist is distributed in silence, standing and in the hand.”

InfoVaticana.com (August 29) comments that “they lie” as no document of the Spanish Bishops imposes grabbing Communion.

The current rector of the parish is Father José Manuel Martínez Jiménez, 63, a former physician.
