Where Are the Fruits? By Father Franz Schmidberger

Francis addressed on May 7 professors and students of the Pontifical Liturgical Institute of Sant'Anselmo, defending the new liturgy under three aspects:

- an active and fruitful participation in the liturgy
- the animation of ecclesial communion through the Eucharist and the sacraments
- the impulse for evangelisation which comes from liturgical life and involves all the baptised.

Cannot all these aspects be used verbatim against the Novus Ordo Missae and contemporary liturgical practice?

- The supposedly fruitful participation in the liturgy has become an indescribable chaos.
- The ecclesial community is split into hundreds of groups and movements.
- One sees very little missionary work, but all the more apostasy, loss of faith and abandonment of religious practice.

An example: 11.9 million people went to mass on Sunday in Germany in 1960. Before the Corona crisis in 2019, there were 2.07M left.
