Two young Syrian twin brothers, both Franciscans of the Custody of the Holy Land, have been ordained priests in Aleppo, Syria, their hometown.
Father Johnny and Father George Jallouf, after completing their studies in Jerusalem, returned to Syria where they were ordained on 6 July by the Latin Apostolic Vicar of Aleppo, Monsignor Hanna Jallouf.
Monsignor Jallouf, 71, is also a Franciscan of the Custody of the Holy Land and the uncle of the two brothers. He was consecrated a bishop only in September 2023.
The twin brothers grew up in the parish of St Francis in Aleppo, where they served as altar boys and then animated youth groups.
During the ordination ceremony, their hands were anointed with chrism oil and bound with a piece of white linen (manuterge).
Custodia.org writes that according to an "ancient tradition" it was the mother of the new priests who untied the cloth, dried the hands of her sons and kissed them for the first time, followed by her husband.
This cloth is kept by the …More

Praise be to God! This glorious celebration would not - COULD NOT - have happened if President Bashar al-Assad had given in and surrendered to the Islamic thugs who attempted to hijack his nation. Such a wonderful thing as we see here would never have been possible if he had allowed the crazed terrorists and murderers the wherewithal to win and thrive, as the U.S. and all of the West attempted to coerce him into doing, urging him to abdicate and concede authority and control of his nation into the foul, psychotic hands of those killers, who in their bloodthirsty madness, only wanted to literally rip Syria asunder as a part of their diabolical and deranged plot to utterly destroy the country. Against all odds, he held his nation together and heroically defended it against the dogs who sought to obliterate Syria and drown her in a whirlpool of death and blood. Even as most of the so-called "civilized" world stood against him (with, of course, the exception of Russia), he fought on relentlessly and never compromised nor lost hope under the delusional guise of a false "peace." The sublime beauty of this occasion, where twins were publicly and openly Ordained to the Priesthood in Holy Mother Church without threat or fear, is the sweet, precious fruit reaped in harvest from the seeds of courage, tenacity, determination and bravery that kept President Assad in the fight for the very life of his nation, until victory, long in coming, was eventually wrought. I congratulate and rejoice greatly with the twin Fathers and their lovely family, and salute and applaud the staunch, stalwart leadership of President Bashar al-Assad....the Lion of Syria.

Wow. So...if Assad retaliates against Israel for the dozens if not hundreds of deadly attacks they've launched against Syria, would that be...good...or bad?

I wonder how long they’ll last. Six months? Nine? 😬

It would perhaps be better to use the adjective “unique,” instead of “unusual,” as “unusual” often carries a negative connotation. This is a wonderful thing.

The Lord embraced me with his hands, accompanied me with his feet on this journey, and loved me. This is how I want to bring him to others,” he told CNA. “Around the age of 18, I entered a total confusion. I started asking myself, ‘Who am I?’, ‘Why am I on this earth?’, and ‘What is God’s plan for my life?’”
George struggled between his own dreams and God’s calling. “At one point, I thought of making a deal: ‘Let me achieve what I want, and then if this desire to become a priest still exists, I’ll say yes’... But instead, [God] wanted answers right away.”
At the age of 18, George participated in the Franciscan March, which he says was decisive for him. “I asked the Lord for signs,” he said. “I didn’t want to start something and then turn back. Why have you chosen me? I am a sinner, not a saint... I felt unworthy.”
