Rupnik Retired: Futur of Centro Aletti Unclear

Jesuit Father Marko Rupnik, a Novus Ordo artist, accused of fornication with nuns decades ago, will leave Rome and move to a Jesuit retirement home in Gallarate near Milan where Cardinal Martini died, according to information from the Jesuit superior in Slovenia, Father Miran Žvanut (IlSismografo, April 1).

The community of the Aletti Centre, a mosaic workshop with a community attached, until recently led by Rupnik, will be dissolved. In it unclear if and in which form the artistic activity will continue.

The Jesuits have forbidden Rupnik from any public artistic or priestly activity.

Consequences: Father Rupnik has been sanctioned by the Jesuit Order. He is to leave Rome and live in Milan in a house for elderly priests. The Centro Aletti, which he led until recently, is to be dissolved. Two of his close collaborators, Father Ivan Bresciani and Father Andrej Brozovič, are to return to Slovenia.
