Murder Case: Convicted Priest, Sister Released on Bail

Kerala’s High Court has suspended the life terms for Father Thomas Kottoor and Sister Sephy and granted them bail while they challenge the verdict of the trial court (IndianExpress.com, June 23).

They were convicted in 2020 for “having murdered” Sister Abhaya in March 1992.

The court said that the prosecution had “not effectively countered” the evidence of the defence. According to the accusation, Abhaya was killed after she had found Kottoor and Sephy in a “compromising position.”
