Mass of Reparation: A Traditional Latin Mass and a Holy Hour will take place this Friday as a Solemn Act of Reparation for the sacrileges that occurred during Pope Francis’ masses in the Philippines when consecrated hosts were randomly past around from hand to hand and hosts fell into the mud. The Mass at Holy Family Parish Roxas in Quezon City is hosted by the Ecclesia Dei Society of St. Joseph – Una Voce Philippines.

Courageous Bishop: Bishop Luigi Negri of Ferrara, Italy, has called an unjust Italian law that forbids criticism of homosex ideology “a crime against God and against humanity”. About the abortion law he said that it has not allowed the birth of more than six million Italians. Quote: “The lack of children has made us fall into this economic crisis.”

A Sheet of Ice: California, Maryland, New York, and Colorado are considering bills that would legalize doctor-assisted suicide. Catholic League’s Bill Donohue comments: “Euthanasia always starts with the hard cases, but history shows that it never ends there. Beware: We are not stepping on a slippery slope—it’s a sheet of ice.”

Persecution: An Oregon judge ruled on Jan. 29 that the owners of “Sweet Cakes by Melissa”, Aaron and Melissa Klein, did discriminate when they declined to provide a wedding cake for two lesbians in 2013 because this would have violated their Christian beliefs. The ruling paves the way for a hearing at the Kleins could be ordered to pay $200,000 in fines and damages. The small Klein children have received death threats from fanatical homosexuals.

I have seen a Presbyterian service where the blessed (not consecrated) bread (usually a loaf) is passed around to those assembled and each person rips out a piece to munch on, crumbs falling on the floor. This is NO sacrilege in Protestantism because the bleesing of bread and wine is symbolic--and no more--and this means that no insult is being inflicted upon the munching bread and dropping crumbs all over because bread is bread and that is it. Nothing is holy, just symbolic. The Eucharist in Catholicism is Christ on the Cross, is eternity crossing time and therefore HOLY!

That the Host is treated like Presbyterian bread implies objectively a de-sacrafication of the Host as the Host to manhandled about even unto the mud evinces a lack of proper respect for the infinite Holiness of the "object" passed around. Only priests should be touching the consecrated Hosts. For me the Papal Mass in the Philipinnes, carried by the Fr. Brogoglio, now the Bishop of Rome (and on occasion the Pope), reflects his shift of religious focus from salvation unto Eternity to a megachurch-like entertainment of the whooped up masses in this world. I do not doubt the integrity of the believers, I do doubt the religious awareness of the Pope.
