Did you know that most women wore church hats to mass, not veils? In the US it was Jackie O who made the mantilla style head covering a trend.

Well, a hat is a head covering and so is a veil. But I'll trade in my veil for a hat if I find an image or a statue of Our Lady depicting Her wearing a hat

I dont know about most women wearing hats but I do remember Jackie Kennedy making it fashionable.
