Title: "Μεθ' ἡμῶν ὁ Θεός" (God is with us) Service: Lent Vespers Performers: Greek Byzantine Choir **ARCHIVAL CONCERT RECORDING** ~ This hymn is chanted during the Lent Vespers in the byzantine rite. Most of its lyrics come from the Book of Isaiah, hence it is also known by the name "Song of the Prophet". Its triumphant spirit and lyrics are meant to encourage and raise the moral of the faithful during the long spiritual and physical struggle of the Lenten Period. Also note that, "God is with us" is the very meaning of the foretold name of Jesus Christ, that is, "Emmanuel".
