Attacked Bishop Returned to His Church

Two weeks after a teenage Muslim tried to stab Ma Mari Emmanuel, the bishop of a self-established community is back on stage.

Before the liturgy, the sanctuary of his church was covered with curtains. Then the curtains were opened and the man stood at the centre of the pulpit, expecting and receiving a standing ovation from his congregation as if in a concert hall.

"I stand for freedom of speech and freedom of religion," he said. Ma Mari Emmanuel supported against the Australian government's request to hide the video of the attack against him.
