Becciu was adamant Friday that he didn’t see any crime in paying his brother’s company roughly $230,000 for fixtures for the Vatican embassy in Cuba where he served as ambassador between 2009 and 2011.

“Excuse me, but I didn’t know anyone else,” he said in a newspaper interview that came out Friday morning. “It was obvious I’d use my brother’s company. The work wasn’t even finished under me but the ambassador who followed me, who was so happy with the service he called the company again when he was later sent to Egypt.”
“I don’t see a crime,” he said during the press conference.
Of course, there’s a notoriously bad word for such deals, which is “nepotism.” Not knowing anyone else who could do the work is no excuse, because that’s what open bidding for contracts is all about.

Thoughts on Pope Francis’s 'great defenestration' of Cardinal Becciu

Cardinal Angelo Becciu talks to journalists during press conference in Rome, Friday, Sept. 25, 2020. The powerful head of the Vatican's …

" Francis likes fags and thieves." @Prayhard What does that say about Benedict XVI who made him a bishop? ;-)
Prayhard
Benedict made many bad appointments, but was the first to devise a working system to remove perv priests, which Francis crippled. Becciu will be given something later, that's my prediction and main point.

Define "something later". @Prayhard Predictions attract the attention of GTV's Official Self-Appointed Seer... mainly because all of mine come true. As for Becciu being givene "something later", Pope Francis has only to follow the fine example established by Saint John Paul II.

The Pope not only pardoned Cardinal Law after Law acknowledged decades of abuse-scandal cover-ups, the Pope also provided Law diplomatic protection from well-deserved criminal prosecution (From Wiki)

"In May 2004, Pope John Paul II appointed Law to a post in Rome, as Archpriest of the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, a sinecure with only ceremonial duties. Some saw this an attempt to shield Law from potential criminal prosecution as his new position conveyed citizenship in Vatican City"

This supports my own "main point" to borrow your phrase, a point I've repeated on GTV many times. As awful as Pope Francis' actions may appear, previous popes have already done much, much worse. In the case of Saint John Paul II, even within the living memory of everyone here.

A direct comparison between John Paul II and Francis will have to wait until your prediction come true.

Namely, Francis gives Becciu "something later". Right now Francis didn't give Becciu anything at all. He's stripped and shamed Becciu in a way that John Paul II should have done to Cardinal Law at the very least.

Saint John Paul II's handling of scandal does provide some perspective, since Cardinal Law was directly responsible for destroying the lives and faith of hundred (probably thousands) of Cathollics and Cardinal Becciu is responsible for nothing worse than some low-brow nepotism.

The current pope is punishing a cardinal for a single instance unethical financial nepotism with greater severity than a previous pope, a saint of the Catholic Church, punished a cardinal for dozens of sexual abuse cover-ups spanning decades.

Becciu became a crony of Francis. Francis will help him. Pope 'pray with pagans' JP2 was equally a friend to cronies, a veritable three monkeys with paedos.
Prayhard
Another FrancisCrook. He'll give him something. Francis likes fags and thieves.
