Francis Wants Illegal Immigration, but NOT for the Vatican State

The Vatican is now punishing those who enter its territory illegally with very severe penalties.

MessaInLatino.it has discovered that on 19 December last year the Vatican City State promulgated a decree making it a crime to enter Vatican territory illegally.

An illegal immigrant who enters the territory of the Vatican City State by force, threat or fraudulent evasion of the State's security and protection systems or by evading border controls shall be punished by imprisonment of between one and four years and a fine of between 10,000 and 25,000 euros.

If the offence is committed with the use of firearms, offensive instruments, corrosive substances or by a person in disguise or by several persons acting in concert, the penalty shall be between sixteen months and six years' imprisonment and a fine of between 13,300 and 37,500 euros.

If the illegal immigrant enters the territory of the State by driving a vehicle, evading or forcing a border control or failing to comply with an order to stop issued by the police, the penalty is up to six years and eight months imprisonment and a fine of up to 41,700 euros.

Conviction for such offences may lead to the application of the accessory penalty of a ban on entering the territory of Vatican City State for a period of ten years.

In short, very hard times lie ahead for those who commit the crime of illegal immigration into the Vatican.

MissaInLatino.it suggests to Francis that in future he avoid the embarrassing and hypocritical weekly lecture on welcoming illegal immigrants.
