SSPX Priest: 'My Conviction is that Novus Ordo Priests are Not Validly Ordained' (June 18, 2023)

This is a short excerpt of a sermon given by Fr. Michael Johnson, SSPX, in which he states that it is his personal conviction that Novus Ordo ordinations (that is, ordinations conferred in the Roman rite of Paul VI of 1968) are invalid.

The sermon was delivered on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Garden Grove, California.

The full video of the entire Mass with sermon is available from the official YouTube channel of the church: youtube.com/watch?v=AmrYv7XeWMo

Total nonsense.

@Tony Smith - Isn't not nonsense, it's the truth. I saw a NOVUS Ordo ordination, and I was fortunate enough to see a traditional SSPX ordination. One was absolutely worthless (Novus Ordo) with contemporary Christian music and parts of the Mass ad libbed (even by the Bishop officiating). I could have made that up myself. And it was 90 minutes of boredom. Nothing inspiring at all.

I was lucky to go to an SSPX ordination by invitation 1 year ago. Nearly 3 hours of the most beautiful vestments, music, reverence. I felt like Jesus Christ was there, blessing all the new priests. Bishop Fellay celebrated the Mass. One connected me with 1,200 years of Catholic tradition. The other gave me a headache (Novus Ordo-especially when they brought out the guitar 🤮 🤪

The text is a valid rite. The SSPX position is clear on this point. What is more, as if, God would allow his Church to have no real validly ordained priests. Your view of Christ and His Love for His Church is totally erroneous to say the least.

All the Sacraments were corrupted by Vatican II/Paul VI. Since the results after 50+ years have been overwhelmingly negative to the Church, I as a 28 yr. old layman (who nevertheless has done alot of research regarding the Church since Vatican II), would tend to agree with Fr. Johnson, SSPX.

Personally, I can not understand why any young man would want to enter any Novus Ordo seminary, especially since the coming of Francis. To go thru 4-6-8 years of study, where they are not put in touch with any of the teachings and traditions of the Church (everything is just Vatican II), and the end result is the ability to say the Novus Ordo? That's no blessing to look forward to. But the Tridentine LAtin Mass is !🤪

His view of the new rite is both theologically unsound and realistically not accurate to say the least.

I don't think that he can read minds ,as long as the Bishops intend to do what the Church does the sacrament is valid.of course there are some to whom this does not apply but I don't think it can be said of everyone.
