Cardinal Sarah: “What Harm Does the Traditional Mass Cause?”

In a long interview with ValeursActuelles.com (December 22), Cardinal Sarah was asked what he would say to Roman Rite seminarians who feel threatened by Francis and his bloodhounds. Sarah answered diplomatically,

Don't look at men. Look to Jesus Christ. He is the one who has called you. It is God who has put his call on your heart. Your teacher is Jesus Christ, not a man. It is Jesus who has said to you: "Come and follow me". It is his voice that you must listen to, it is his face that you must discover, it is your relationship with him that you must create, shape. This friendship is not simply transmitted, it is built by two people. We must also follow the teachings of the Church. It has always taught the same thing. It is God who has called you. Try to know him.

He added that he is of the “opinion” of Benedict XVI, “What was holy and sacred yesterday cannot be condemned to disappear today. What harm does the Traditional Mass cause? What harm? If somebody can learn to encounter Christ in a Mass celebrated in silence, in respect for the sacred, let them not hesitate. Everyone wants to grow in God, why prevent them from doing so? Thisis not a revolt. They are not in any way denying the Second Vatican Council, quite the contrary.

One need only read the average post and commentary on this website, from the rejection of Church Councils to the mockery of the ordinary form of the mass and the attack on the pope from so-called faithful traditionalist Catholics, that it is no surprise that the pope has clamped down on the TLM which has been used by sectarian groups to cause division.

There catechism is clear on what Catholics are to believe. That there are Catholics who reject the catechism is nothing new. But there’s nothing more un-Catholic than a Catholic attacking and mocking the pope and rejecting Church Councils based on what they read on the Internet. The rampant sectarianism among those devoted to the TLM ranges from normal people who are simply seeking a more reverent liturgy, to looney tunes. The focus should be to make the ordinary mass as reverent as it was intended to be by the Council, and to teach traditionalist Catholics that the gospel cannot be reduced to attending a beautiful liturgy..

God bless Cardinal Sarah. He stood up to Pope Francis and his lackey Archbishop Roche in diplomatic ways, but everyone knows who he meant. Several other cardinals (some not so old), have countered Francis and Roche, and many bishops and archbishops are rising against them over the Latin Mass. Good Riddance. Many traditional religious Orders too, are standing up and saying NO, we will not obey your dictates regarding the Mass. Francis can fume and work himself up into a stroke if he wants, but faithful Orders, bishops, cardinals and faithful Catholics will not bend to his unjust demands, or of Roche.
Did anyone catch the Papal Christmas Eve Mass from the Vatican last night? I watched parts of it on YouTube, The basilica was packed, and the people waiting for the Pope, but Francis came walking in with a long, sour face. He did not acknowledge the faithful as JPII or Benedict XVI did. He gave evil looks to everyone during the Mass, and when over, had the same evil, angry, mad face on as he walked down the nave of the basilica, ignoring everyone, tearing past his attendants as if he was suddenly stricken by gastro-intestinal distress and was racing at break neck speed to the nearest bathroom. I wouldn't be surprised considering his "illness" he supposedly had/has.
His face was surly, rude, obnoxious. No one clapped as he went up or down the aisle as the Romans and pilgrims usually do for the Pope. He ignored them all, and sat slumped in his chair on the altar.
Perhaps he knows that this might have been his last Christmas as pope, and is agenda is turining into ashes at his feet. Boo hoo hoo.
