The mission tour is worth the visit as you get a great appreciation of the Catholic cultural heritage of San Antonio and Texas. I've been there on many occasions myself. Texas fun fact: many of the Alamo defenders like Colonel Jim Bowie married into prestigious Mexican families and converted to Catholicism prior to the Texas War of Independence. Even today San Antonio remains a very culturally Catholic-hispanic city. There are public statues of the Crucifixion, Christ the King, Our Lady, and Franciscan saints everywhere in the city.
