Cardinal Marx: Church must apologise to gay-community

A leading cardinal has said the Catholic Church should apologise to the gay community for its scandalous and terrible treatment of them, which had not changed until “very recently”. Speaking in Dublin, Cardinal Reinhard Marx said: “The history of homosexuals in our societies is very bad because we’ve done a lot to marginalise [them].” As church and society “we’ve also to say ‘sorry, sorry’ ”.

The German cardinal is a member of the council of nine cardinals chosen by Pope Francis to advise him. Until “very recently”, the church, but also society at large, had been “very negative about gay people . . . it was the whole society. It was a scandal and terrible,” he told The Irish Times after speaking at a conference held in Trinity College.

Cardinal Marx, like the current Pope, do not represent the views of ordinary god-fearing catholics no matter how much they generate "newsworthy" changes to the mind of the church. Sin is sin no matter how many of the church's leaders deem sin is not to be a sin. The catholic belief{s} comes from Christ himself not from "would be" theologians who clearly have their own agendas to that of the Catholic Church's Founder. We all are witnessing a dismantling of the traditional catholic church, now happening at an ever increasing pace, yet the majority of the church's hierarchy and many of the laity seem oblivious to what is happening. One readily calls to mind, Hans Christian Anderson's story of The Emperor without clothes. It will in short, be 'a child of innocence' who once again descends from heaven to sort the mess out, only this time it will be judgement time. a scenario seemingly not countenance by the above mentioned.
