Since 2000, tens of thousands of Christians in Nigeria have been victims of genocide perpetrated by Boko Haram, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), Fulani jihadists and other Islamic groups. The International Committee on Nigeria calls this genocide the “Silent Slaughter.” According to the organization Open Doors, ~ Nigeria is the most violent country in the world to be a Christian. ~ The attacks are often brutal in nature and can involve destruction of properties, abductions for ransom, sexual violence, and death. ~ Christians are stripped of their livelihoods and driven from their homes, leaving a trail of grief and trauma. ~ Raids by Islamic groups have terrorised Christian communities, and women have been kidnapped, forced into marriage or sexual slavery, and killed. ~ More Christians are killed for their faith in Nigeria each year than everywhere else in the world combined.
