A Roman court will impose a suspended sentence on former Pontifical Gendarmerie official F.D., 45, Italian media write.
D. was sentenced to one year and eight months in prison for having beat his wife several times between 2016 and 2017 to the extent of causing her serious and very serious injuries.
Nevertheless, D. will remain a Vatican employee. He was simply transferred to an administrative office.
