Fatima: Modernist Against Modernist

Anti-Catholic Monsignore Luciano Guerra, 90, rector of Fatima shrine, Portugal, from 1973 to 2008, publicly criticised his successor in JornalDeLeiria.pt (December 22) for focusing on "intellectuals" and "artists" instead on the pilgrims.

He mentions the big 2017 centenary of the apparitions, where there was "lot of music" and "other artistic performances." Guerra admits that there are still wonderful exhibitions in Fatima, "but they are too expensive, in my opinion, and their pastoral results are less obvious."

After going into retirement, Guerra noticed that the pilgrims "need an atmosphere of prayer.”

Manager salaries paid even to priests also bother Guerra, “Almost suddenly, more than 130 new employees were hired” to a total of 210.

Guerra is responsible for Fatima's ugly "Holy Trinity Church" that looks like a storehouse. Its mosaic (pictured below) was fabricated by now infamous Father Rupnik.

Fatima's present rector, Monsignor Carlos Cabecinhas replied by attacking Guerra who himself initiated international congresses inviting contemporary [pompous] "theologians" and "intellectuals."

Guerra produced mainly large "ceremonial spaces" that must be maintained today, he complained.

@Chat Chartreux If my memory serves me correctly, the pews are fixed in with no kneelers, so one can only sit or stand during any Mass (I've never attended Mass there). It really is more suited to being a concert hall. And the crucifix must be about the ugliest I've ever seen. It's almost ape-like in appearance. There is a first-class relic of St Peter in the altar. It really is more suited to being a concert hall. And the crucifix must be about the ugliest I've ever seen. It's almost ape-like in appearance. There is a first-class relic of St Peter in the altar. As I was walking around the basilica and subterranean complex, I noticed that even though it was built fairly recently, the building already shows signs of deterioration. I don't think it will stand the test of time, unlike the old basilica which it faces. I hope one day it will be completely removed, and the open sanctuary enlarged again. I remember the days before the new basilica was built, and seeing the whole of the massive sanctuary filled with people.

You can kneel, but yes it is know among the others things as a anpheatheater where there is Mass also. It was a stage to a ilusionism show at least once.

@DrMaria Mgsr Luciano Guerra can't really criticise anyone else, as he was partly responsible for the sacrilegious Hindu ritual which took place in the Fatima Capelinha, where Our Lady appeared, years ago. Hindu Ritual Performed at Fatima Shrine | The Fatima Center I agree with you. Fatima will be restored one day - although maybe not in my lifetime.

I agree - Msgr Guerra is indeed part of the same problem as Msgr Carlos - neither have served Our Lady or Our Lord - and yes, the Hindu Ritual was yet another blasphemy. We don't know when Our Lord will act - it seems the full measure of evil has almost been completely revealed - which typically happens before Our Lord acts~~. Let us just keep praying and living the Fatima lifestyle ourselves - …More

Thank you, English Catholic, for the link in your article below. The article is right on target - Fatima is run by masonic clergy - with Msgr Carlos being right at the top of the pack of wolves. During the 2017 centennial, there were displays of blasphemous artwork, too offensive to even describe, which Carlos allowed and invited into the exhibition halls. He is no true servant of Our Lady of Fatima or of Our Lord HimSelf. What has happened to this holy shrine is a a great tragedy. However, Our Lady and Our Lord are totally aware and are in charge - and in Their time, there will be a complete restoration of the sacredness of the Fatima Shrine and retribution for all the clergy, who have betrayed Them.

This was an interesting piece on Fatima. Fatima's Gradual Descent into Darkness – the Altar of the World has become a blasphemous mockery I saw all the things mentioned when I went there in 2017, like the masonic style altar in the old basilica with the three candlesticks. I went to the new 'basilica' pictured above as well. It's more like a concert hall. Horrible.

It looks more like a corporate head office for Big Tech, or Big Pharma, than it does a place of faith and worship (which is probably the point).

That church is a piece of crap. Mosaics done by a sexual pervert. It's an icon of the Vatican II Church. Guerra is a hypocrit. He was among the worst modernist liberal heretics to run the Shrine.

I love your blunt, first sentence. It describes so much in the modern Church.

This church is a desecration.

ugh ! as in ugly, deformed, anti-human, anti-metaphysical. Art that comes from the godless always looks just like this. Won't be going to Fatima
