Mel Gibson’s 'Resurrection of Christ' Begins Filming in Italy This August

Mel Gibson's long-announced film "The Resurrection of the Christ" – a sequel to "The Passion of the Christ" (2004) – will set to begin production in Italy this August.

Manuela Cacciamani, CEO of Rome's Cinecittà Studios, told IlSole24ore.com (March 25): "I can confirm that the next film directed by Mel Gibson, produced by Icon Productions 'The Resurrection of Christ' will be shot entirely in Cinecittà starting in August and will require many theaters and stage sets."

Gibson recently revealed that the story follows "the fall of the angels to the death of the last apostle": "I think in order to really tell the story properly, you really have to start with the fall of the angels, which means you are in a different realm. You have to go to hell."

He plans to recast Jim Caviezel as Jesus Christ and use some technology to make him look younger.

Considering his sedevacantist and traditionalist stance, I think the film is very good.

I am hoping this will be another great film like THE PASSION.

Let us pray for Mel and all involved that their work will shine for the glory and honour of God.
