The Catholic primary school San Domenico in San Anselmo, Califonia, removed all but 18 of 180 statues and holy pictures from its campus, reports marinij.com because the school wanted allegedly to be “more inclusive”. The school was founded in 1850 and serves 671 students.
The biggest statue that was removed, is Our Lady with baby Jesus in her arms. It used to be at the center of the school's courtyard and used to be crowned by the pupils in a special ceremony. The statue is now in a basement.
Some years ago San Domenico school removed the word "Catholic" from the school's mission statement. Later they stopped preparing the pupils for Confession and First Communion. Finally the logo of the school was secularised.
