Francis Planned To Name One Cardinal More
During the last consistory in June, Pope Francis wanted to include a layman in the list of the new cardinals, writes the Italian newspaper Il Giornale. Francis' candidate was Enzo Bianchi, 74, the founder of the mixt ecumenical Monastic Community of Bose, Italy.
Bianchi belongs to the radical leftwing spectrum and is treated very favorably by the commercial media. He is pro-gay and an enthusiastic supporter of Amoris Laetita. Bianchi refused Francis' proposal because according to Canon Law he would have been ordained a priest and bishop before receiving the red biretta, saying that he wanted to remain a layman "like Saint Pacomius, Saint Benedict or Saint Francis of Assisi."
