Observers take this move as a confirmation of Pope Francis determination to crash the proponents of Catholicism and to push an outdated liberal and pro-gay agenda to the bitter end.

Wake up: In an editorial on catholicculture.org, Jeff Mirus downplays Cardinal Burke’s dismissal. He names seven Cardinals who contradicted Cardinal Kasper’s pro-gay and pro-divorce stances and concludes: “Now, how many of these men have been rumored to be out of favor with Pope Francis? Disastrous: For Father Dwight Longenecker Cardinal Burke’s demotion is “a startling move which will almost certainly prove to be disastrous for Pope Francis.” Longenecker believes that Burke may become the voice of criticism against the progressive agenda within the Vatican. Connections: The new Prior General of the Cathusians, Dom Dysmas de Lassus, has strong family ties to the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X through his eldest brother who worships with the Fraternity. This brother has two sons, Jean and Baudoin, who are priests and a daughter, Blandine, who is a Carmelite. All three are also part of the Fraternity.
