This truism was proclaimed by the outgoing Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops, Cardinal Marc Ouellet, at the European meeting of the Francis Synod in Prague on 6 February.
Ouellet called on the Synod participants to base their deliberations and decisions on the anthropology of the Bible. He warned against "interpreting the Word of God in a way that contradicts what it actually says".
The meeting in Prague began on Sunday. Each national bishops' conference has sent four people to the meeting and nominated ten people to participate online.
One online delegate from Switzerland is homosex activist Mentari Baumann, a self-identified lesbian. She railed on the homosex portal Kath.ch that Ouellet had dismissed the identity, life plans and work of "queer people" [sic!] as "false". This is "nothing new - and yet it frustrates and hurts," lamented a self-pitying Baumann.
