Laminin is a large extracellular matrix protein made of three different polypeptide chains (α, β, and γ). These chains assemble into a structure with:
One long arm (formed mainly by the α chain)
Three shorter arms (from the β and γ chains)
Together, these four arms radiate from a central point, giving laminin its characteristic cruciform (cross-like) appearance, especially in electron microscopy images.
