The retired Nairobi Cardinal John Njue poses a particular problem because the date of his birth in 1944 is not known, writes Davids-Ruminations.blogspot.com (August 1). It is therefore unclear when he will turn 80 and no longer be eligible to participate in a conclave. The blog suggests that Njue should be treated as having been born on the last day of the year 1944. A list of all the cardinals in order of age on the Vatican website seems to support this solution, giving Nuje’s birthday as 31 December 1944.
