Cardinal's Mother Explains How Her Son Was Born For His 60th Birthday

Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle of Manila, Philippines, marked his 60th birthday on June 21 with a Mass in presence of his parents and his siblings. During the homily the Cardinal recounted that his mother Milagros (86) sent him a birthday-letter, in which she told him, how he was born, "You did not want to get out".

The family expected the birth of the son on June 13, the feast of Saint Anthony of Padua, which explains the "Antonio" in the Cardinal's name. Tagle instead was born on June 21, 1957, the feast of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga. Therefore Tagle was called "Luis".
