Archbishop Guy de Kérimel of Toulouse, France, has defended his June decision to appoint Rev. Dominique Spina as chancellor despite Spina's conviction for raping a 16-year-old teenager.
The Pillar, a Substack.com-account, is almost certain that the case will end up on Pope Leo XIV's desk. His judgement on the case "will speak volumes about what the Church can expect from the pontiff's approach to safeguarding".
The Pillar believes that Rev. Spina could become "a symbol of papal inaction", as men like Bishop Gustavo Zanchetta and Fr Marko Rupnik were during the Francis papacy.
