Architectural Primitivism: Stone Block Consecrated
Auxiliary Bishop Rupert Graf zu Stolberg, 54, of Munich, Germany, presided the consecration of an altar in St. Michael Church in Niederaudorf on 27 October.
The new altar is a huge stone block made of red marble. The ambo looks like the little brother of the big block. Neither piece of furniture fits into the venerable church, which was first mentioned in a document in 1280.
The church has been "renovated" inside and out.

I guess our altars have become progressively smaller because the priests who use them no longer believe anything important happens on them.
