It may be a small point, but I don’t believe that faculties to absolve sins were granted to SSPX priests: the faithful were allowed to approach them for absolution. Fr. Hunwicke, in the last month, gave a somewhat cryptic commentary on this, intimating that, in this instance at least, the SSPX were being treated as the Easten Orthodox are treated. Fr. Z was the only one who gave any commentary on this, as far as I remember. It’s an interesting situation.

If they were allowed to approach then a kind of faculty was granted. In any case the justified positive doubt is enough for the supplied jurisdiction. Canon 144.1:
In factual or legal common error and in positive and probable doubt of law or of fact, the Church supplies executive power of governance for both the external and internal forum.
