Bishop Marcus Stock, 56, of Leeds, England, celebrated his first Old Latin Mass on November 11. This was an "incredibly edifying and moving occasion", he told The Tablet.
About 100 people attended. The Mass was a requiem for the deceased Leeds' bishops. It was the first traditional Latin Mass celebrated by a bishop in the cathedral of Leeds since 1970.
The irony: Stock succeeded Modernist Archbishop Arthur Roche, now the secretary of the Vatican Congregation for the Liturgy. Pope Francis regularly uses Roche in order to sideline Cardinal Sarah who technically would be Roche's superior but is not liked by Francis because of his Catholic convictions.
