Epstein Files Name a Royal Nobody Expected
The Norwegian royal family is facing what may be the most serious legitimacy crisis in modern Norwegian history — and in my view, it could threaten the monarchy’s survival. In this video, I analyze the fallout from newly released Epstein-related documents and the overlapping scandals now hitting the royal household at the same time: renewed scrutiny of Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s past contact with Jeffrey Epstein (as described in public reporting and document releases), the criminal case surrounding Marius Borg Høiby, and the ongoing controversy around Princess Märtha Louise’s public role and commercial choices. I also explain why this moment is different from earlier royal controversies — and why Crown Prince Haakon may eventually face an impossible dilemma: defend his wife, or protect the institution. I’m Stephen Hojlund, a Danish social science PhD, reporting for the Danish Stream Media Group. What you’ll learn in this video: -What the document releases claim, and what remains unclear -Why the palace’s past messaging is now being questioned -How public opinion appears to be shifting — and why approval matters -Why the timing of multiple scandals compounds the damage -The three strategic paths forward (and which one I think is most likely) Note: This video contains commentary and analysis. Some claims discussed are allegations reported in media and/or referenced in released documents; ongoing legal matters remain unresolved.
