The got the pass "without difficulty" probably because the Vatican knows that they are outnumbered......faithful traditional Catholics are starting to outnumber the worthless, aged Novus Ordo crowd that to deny or make things as difficult as possible for traditional Catholics is not in the establishments best interest.
When Pope Francis quits, or passes on (either one will do), he will go down in history not only as a heretic, but also among the most hated and despised Popes in history.
