By far the world's most militarised country are the United States. They account for 39% of the world's military spending but only for 4.23% of the global population. They are followed by
• China: 12,7% (18% of global population)
• India: 3,6% (17.5% of global population)
• Russia: 3,1% (1.88% of global population).
Russia’s spending was 6.6% lower than its military budget for 2020. Likely, Francis will not make this a major theme of his pontificate, because this would upset the warmongering leftwing oligarch media which are Francis’ most powerful allies.
