Pope Francis School: Radical Chicago Archbishop Blase Cupich has announced his intention to name a regional Catholic school after the pontiff. Pope Francis Global Academy, which will open on two campuses next autumn, will be a merger of four parish schools. Mother Teresa, St. Francis of Assisi and Blessed Frederic Ozanamn were the other top contenders for the school's namesake.

Retreating Church: Dublin Archbishop Diarmuid Martin believes the Catholic Church must free itself from control of schools and other institutions. Quote, “Times have changed in Irish society and the Church must change.”

French Humor: Vadim Solovyov, an MP of the Russian Federation has addressed the Foreign Ministry with a request to blacklist all staff of the controversial French magazine Charlie Hebdo, which made fun of the A321 airliner crash in Egypt that killed 224 people among them 17 children.

Violence: On November 5th, a Muslim mob burned down the homes of four Catholic families in Kamarpara, Panchargarh district, in the very north of Bangladesh. The criminals tried to lock them inside their houses before setting them on fire. The attack followed a long campaign of denigration against the victims. Neighbors came to their rescue. There are some 300 Catholics in Karmarpara who once belonged to the Hindu warrior caste. Official local Muslims condemned the attack strongly.
