People who are civilized have learned how to be civilized. Most of us learn it when we’re children, and it’s very difficult, though not impossible to learn it when one is older. Even amongst those who still can be considered civilized, less and less is being passed on with each generation. Whenever we hear churchmen speak about how civilization has evolved beyond this or that old way of doing things, like executing the most serious criminals, one only needs to look at an incident like this to see that he is wrong. Civilization is crumbling. Society is devolving. If people are forced to live in crowded cities, against their will, it will be all over. Living in such close proximity to others, while staying peaceful, is a burden, and people today don’t do well with burdens.
