Marajó: Francis Is Confronted With a Wall

The faithful of the Apostolic Prelature of Marajó (Brazil) have announced that they will not welcome the new bishop unless the expulsion of Mgr José Azconais revoked.

Hundreds of them have signed an open letter warning that the installation of the new bishop, Mgr José Ionilton, could be seriously jeopardised.

On 9th December it was announced that the Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Mgr Giambattista Diquattro, had called Mgr Azcona to inform him that he could no longer reside in the territory of the Prelature. The Nuncio didn't give any reasons for his decision.
