Francis Relies on More Self-Promotion
Francis will publish his autobiography in six languages in March 2024, writes Ansa.it (December 12).
The title of the Italian edition is “Papa Francesco Life La mia storia nella Storia”. It's being produced by HarperCollins, one of the “Big Five” Anglo-American publishers. HarperCollins is owned by the Australian-American oligarch Rupert Murdoch.
Bergoglio begins with the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939, when he was two years old, and ends with the present day.
The book is intended to help the younger generation avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, Francis writes, while he himself insists on repeating the mistakes of the 1960s.
He comments not only on the 1969 moon landing and the fall of the Berlin Wall, but also on the long-forgotten 1986 World Cup, when Maradona scored the goal that, at the time, was called “La mano de Dios''.
The book's ghostwriter is Fabio Marchese Ragona, a journalist for the Italian Mediaset group that is part of the Berlusconi family empire.
Marchese Ragona is one of Francis’ court journalists. In January and December 2021, he produced an interview and a documentary with him for Mediaset. In December 2022, he did another interview with Francis.
