Mexican Archbishop Stops Construction: New Cathedral Doesn’t Look like a Church

Archbishop Francisco Moreno Barrón of Tijuana, Mexico, who was named to this see in August 2016, has rejected the design of his new cathedral that was under construction since 2006.

Moreno said in an undated press release on the cathedral’s website, that the original project aimed at being "modern”, but he comes to the conclusion that it “does not look like a Catholic church, much less a cathedral.”

Therefore Moreno has asked the architects to overhaul the project and present a new proposal until the end of June.
